As the old saying goes, “Fear is a good motivator.” And it is. But when we base our decisions off of fear, it becomes an inhibitor.
So, let’s take fear out of the equation. Think about whatever it is you’re manifesting and remove the fear you have about attaining that thing. Is your decision different? Here’s an example that will resonate with many of you. You’ve got a rambunctious toddler right now. Full of energy, requires all your attention. You want your first born to have a sibling but the idea of bringing another baby into the world right now feels impossible. You can barely keep up with #1 and you love all the attention you’re able to give him/her. But you also really want to be a family of four and give #1 a sibling. So, to try for #2 now or not? That is the question. Now, eliminate the element of fear. If you weren’t worried about the maybe extra chaos that would be brought with #2 and focused, instead, on the completion of your family of four and the beautiful sibling relationship that would begin to blossom sooner than later—both of which you really want—would you decide to try for #2 now or still wait? If you decide you still want to wait, let it be because you’re just loving all the attention you’re able to give #1 right now and not because you’re afraid #2 is going to be too much to add on. Focus on what you truly desire and let that be your guide!
Bottom line: Don’t let fear dictate your life. Don’t let it change your mind from something your heart is truly set on. Let it guide you towards the change you want to make. Let fear be a powerful motivator.
In my own life, I’ve really been grappling with this question as I step into entrepreneurship. I’m faced daily with a growing to-do list and general anxiety about what I’m embarking on. I keep questioning whether I should pursue this when the reality is there’s already so many women like me talking about the same content. Does the Universe need another one? But then I remind myself that I’m different, and that my perspective on these similar topics is compelling and valuable, and that my story and experiences are unique to me. No one is me, and that is my power! I have a story to tell and a purpose to fulfill that is different from every other content creator on the planet. And for that reason, I deserve to occupy my own space.
This should go without saying, but there’s a reason there’s no one expert on any given topic. When I was practicing law, I was a part of an association of hundreds of thousands of others with the exact same title. Sure, we were all “experts” in different areas, but all lawyers. And even in my own practice area of estate planning, there were thousands of other estate planners in Cincinnati that covered the same things with their clients, but in wildly different ways. Did that make me any less valuable or needed in the field? Nope! Thank goodness for variety.
I think about the manifesting queens and badass business women I currently follow and how different each of their content is. I love some aspects of this person and another of this one. I prefer her perspective on this concept versus hers on something else. I resonate with her story so much that it’s what initially drew me in. I’ve encountered content creators I immediately didn’t jive with and quickly moved on. And I realized, then, that I’m also not going to be for everyone, and that’s ok! That’s the beauty of sharing your uniqueness. At the end of the day, I’m doing all this for me, so I can live in alignment with what I believe my purpose to be, to show up every day as the woman I want to be, to make my family and, especially, my children proud, and to help you manifest your dream life, too.
So, if you’re afraid you’re “just another ______,” you are. BUT, you’re different! Everything from where you came from, who you are, what you have to say and how you say it is completely unique to you. The world NEEDS your perspective and your story.
Now, off you go. Share your wisdom loud and proud!
